Position title: Modeling/CAD Engineering Technician

Position description and duties

A CAD/Modeling Engineer Technician for 3D modeling, design and fabrication drawing preparation, bill of materials, as-built drawings, assembly documentation, and support of technical coordination for assigned projects. This position works with the Design Engineer and Project Manager. Technical responsibilities include 3D modeling, fabrication drawings, component selection, tolerance/clearance design input and review, interpretation of customer supplied dimensional interface requirements.

Candidate skill requirements and success factors:

• Minimum 2 year CAD training program.
• 2-4 years relevant modeling and drawing creation experience as follows:
• In depth experience and knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing preparation; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience creating assembly drawings, exploded drawings, model rendering, model/assembly animations. • Experience with revision control
• Direct experience in machining, and fabrication shop environment.
• Experience with ANSI or ISO or other drawing standards
• Independent drafting abilities in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Exposure to steel manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to work in a small company environment that requires collaboration, balancing of multiple priorities, and a strong ability to meet commitments.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision. Proactive self starter.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team regarding technical issues.
• Ability to prepare technical presentations.

Beneficial But Not Required Skills:

• Knowledge of structural steel specs. and fabrication tolerances
• Experience in creating Installation and Operation manuals.
