GIS and Site Specialist
Wasatch Wind is looking to hire a full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Site Specialist for our wind energy development team. In this role the candidate will be responsible for analyzing and creating maps and graphs using GIS software and related equipment, manipulating multiple layers of maps (such as wind resource, transmission and environmental), compiling geographic data from a variety of sources, and analyzing spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports. The final reports will be used to screen and prioritize potential development sites. Candidate will also provide general technical expertise to support the development team and engage in multi-faceted tasks associated with the growing company.

- Reports to Director of Development
- Some travel may be required
Necessary Skills Include
- Geographical Expertise - Knowledge of various methods for describing the location and distribution of land and air masses including their geographical and physical locations, relationships and characteristics.
- Wind Resource Assessment - Knowledge of wind resource assessment and data collection.
- Communication: Written and Oral - Must be able to effectively communicate GIS and cartographic information to people not familiar with the subject.
- Analytical Skills - The ability to recognize, analyze and solve problems using the GIS suite of tools.
- Information Gathering - Be able to effectively and efficiently gather, filter and validate information about a potential project.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years background and knowledge working with GIS Software.
- Experience in wind resource assessment, site screening and feasibility or micrositing issues in the wind energy development process preferred
- Ability to work in a unique, fast-paced environment.

- Ability to think creatively and offer imaginative solutions or approaches to problem.
- Ability to and willingness to learn quickly.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Advanced degree or quantitative degree in meteorology, environmental engineering, computer science or related field.
- Strong skills in ESRI GIS software
- Experience with databases, programming in VBA or other computer languages.
- Familiarity with wind farm siting software packages.
- General Computer/Network Maintenance
