Director of Engineering and Construction

The Director of Engineering and Construction is responsible for managing the engineering and construction for Wasatch Wind's wind energy projects. The ideal candidate must understand the engineering and construction processes for wind development, and have spent time in the construction and/or engineering industries. This person will manage third party engineering and construction teams from hire to completion, manage construction phase budgets, and ensure company best practices are maintained.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Project Development team to set and meet construction/engineering strategy, budgets and timelines
  • Provide overall management of onsite project activities, including budgets, schedules and associated tracking and reporting tools
  • Manage projects to the end result such that the project is completed on time, in specifications and within budget
  • Oversee pre-construction engineering activities
  • Conduct site evaluation
  • Develop and manage third-party construction and engineering partnerships
  • Establish strong internal project management and site management teams as required
  • Ensure smooth coordination between project site personnel, internal groups and various external entities including landowners
  • Develop cost estimation models and standards for optimal pricing of Installation, Commissioning and Balance of Plant
  • Coordinate with engineering on technical issues, variations, documentation etc.
  • Participate in contract negations with turbine manufacturers, third party contractors and Engineering Procurement Contractors (EPC's)
  • Coordinate and communicate with third party financial institutions and their engineering representatives

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS - Engineering preferred
  • Track record in successful wind project control and construction management.
  • Deep understanding of procurement and sub-contracting activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage of complex project schedules. 5-10 years progressive management experience.
  • Strong written, verbal communications skills and computer skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to travel a significant portion of the time
